-Thank God that some of our kids are reading their bibles.
-Thank God for the money for the Wii donated by one of the church members who felt God saying “the youth are the future, give to them. “LOVE IT!!
-Pray for more numbers. This week was discouraging mainly as there was a Katy Perry concert on. But many just didn’t turn up.
-Pray that the youth who started coming a couple of weeks ago stay for the talk as well.

Trevethin
- One of the girls last week said that she became a Christian a while ago after hearing the Gospel at the club!! Apparently she took one of our tracts home, and prayed herself at home! She’s been given a Bible too that we know she reads regularly and genuinely professes to be saved. The fruit of this isn’t reeeeeally in her life, so please pray for clarity:
-That either she’d be convicted of the sin in her life and properly start coming to church and living her life for Jesus.
-Or that she’d realise that perhaps she hasn’t really committed to Christ and that she’d make a genuine commitment
-Also please just pray for the kids in general…We are so desperate to see salvation in Trevethin and believe only God can remove the scales from their eyes.

Bargoed
-Since a massive group came the week before last we are down to about 6, which is actually pretty sweet because it means we can minister to them more personally and allows them to ask questions.
-But if God does want more kids to come then thats amaazing too! Prayer mainly that we remain in his will, and seek what that is.
-Prayer that for those who do come that they would really start to ENGAGE with the gospel and not just let it pass them by. Pray that they would start to see God as a real, loving Father.
-Prayer for Josh this week as he does his talk. Keep the kids excited!

Llangeinor

-Thank God for a fantastic night on friday, a great peaceful atmopshere in which the young people listened to the talk which was really well done. Thank God for relationships which are continually being built. Praise God for christianity explored on sunday night which also went well, the young people listened so much better than they had previously, the gospel was proclaimed and they asked good questions.
-Please pray for those who are regularly hearing the gosple that they would not harden their hearts. Pray also for the team that we would trust in Gods timing as we are so desperate to see salvation, pray that we would not get discouraged when God says ‘not yet’.

Treorchy

- Pray for salvation in Treorchy

-Thank God for last Friday as it was one of the best ever!!
-We’ve been praying for the last couple of weeks for lots of the boys to come back because they hadn’t been in a while, then they all came back at once. It was awesome. AND, some of them even brought their bible with them that they’d been given a couple of months ago.
-There were plenty of opportunities to explain the gospel as well.
-Some of the youth are really close to understanding and are giving some pretty good answers so pray that God works in them more.
-The kids listened well in their talk as well, mostly which was pretty good. They’re getting to hear about Jesus every week now. And discipline is a lot better.
-So all round, well done God. Pray that this continues for the last 2 weeks before easter. And pray that we wouldn’t be content but keep trying to reach out to all the kids and youth

Abertillery
-For the kids who got kicked out a couple of weeks ago, that God would give them peace
-For ways to discipline the kids, and to be wise in our decisions
-Pray for these last 2 weeks before we break up for easter that we would be loving the kids even more and remembering that we should love them as if we were loving Jesus.
-That on thursday when James talks the kids would engage with the message and have questions and thoughts to share
-That they wouldn’t be embarassed to talk about what they were thinking, that it would be ‘cool’ to talk about Jesus
-That the kids who came back from rock school would keep coming and settle back into the group and continue to be a great influence on the rest of the group
-Thanks to God for a great atmosphere during the games last week

Troed-y-Rhiw
-Praise God that we keep getting more and more new girls, that they feel like they can bring there friends with them.
-We did an activity last week where asked them to write a letter to God and some of them wrote some really deep stuff, so please pray that we might be able to address some of these things and that most importantly God would be drawing near to them.
-Please pray for wisdom in knowing how to discipline or at least just keep some of them ‘under control’ so to speak, some of their behaviour is becoming very difficult to work with and means that the girls who actually want to hear the Gospel are being stopped.
- Please pray for continuing ideas in planning and wisdom in the talks.
-Most of all praise God that we actually have all of these opportunities!

Tongwynlais
-Praise for salvation! Nathan moved his ‘player’ from the supporter stand to the pitch on the CY football pitch of where we are in our relationship with Jesus (I hope that makes sense!). Pray for opportunities to talk to him in more depth about his commitment and to really encourage him.
-Praise for a good time on Friday night.
-Pray for the others on the CY course as we get to the crucial point. This Saturday is our away day and we have about 6 kids coming along. Pray for the preparation and smooth running of the day.
-Pray for continued good numbers and opportunities to build deeper relationships with these young people.

Grangetown

- Sat down with one of the difficult lads last week and had a chance to tell him that God loves him, he responded really well, just prayer that his heart would continue to be softened!

-Major, huge, juicy PRAISE for last Tuesday when we were all feeling a bit down and grumpy about the numbers/lack of response and God really came through, meaning 15 kids turned up during James’ talk and asked really good questions :D
-Prayer that they would come back next week and be eager to know about Jesus and how he loves them.
-Prayer that as there are only three leaders now we are able to ensure everyone feels included and that some good solid friendships are built.
-Prayer that they don’t become too rowdy and always talk over us. That they would learn to respect us more as leaders.

Tongwynlais
-Praise for a great evening on Friday.

-Praise for a good God slot, although some of the boys were quite disruptive so pray for them.
-Pray for one boy, who seems to go through phases with being interested in God and losing interest. Pray for a conflict between his band practices and church. Pray that his interest would become constant and that his relationship with Jesus would become much more personal.

-Thank God for some really good constructive conversations
-Pray for those conversations that weren’t as constructive, or were discouraging that God would turn those situations around and all of the young people would come to know Jesus
-Pray for the structure of the club – we ran it one way for a while, then changed for a while and there are now mixed oppinions of which worked best, so pray that we would all have God’s wisdom in knowing what God wants for this, that everyone would be happy with any descisions made, and that the relationships amongst all of the leaders (from revive and from the church) would remain strong throughout that.

Pray that good numbers of kids come back after the break and that we can continue things straight away. Pray that we would have more authority over the kids and youth, that they would listen when we are talking to them and they pay attention.

Pray for real conviction regarding the double lives many of them lead in and outside club.

Pray for the church, that they will be a body that shares the burdens of their ministry to the community.

We have been thinking it would be good to increase the numbers for a while and this week loads of new youg people turned up so praise God for that. It is a challenge suddenly having so many more young people so pray that God will provide and look after us and help us to know what to do.

Pray that the young people will listen to the “God slots” and will take in what we’re telling them and start to think about it.
Pray that in the discussion time they would have lots of questions and that we would have lots of answers!
Pray that God would really put a vission on our hearts for where he wants this club to go.

-We couldn’t go up this week, as it wasn’t on, so prayer that the kids had lovely weeks.
-Nigel (who became a christian just before christmas- :D ) has said he’s now not going into the army, so hopefully he’s sticking around for a little while longer despite being 18 and technically over the age limit school-years wise. It would be wonderful if he continued to read his bible, which he says he’s been doing. It would be great if we could find ways to hang out with him and talk about his spiritual life without being interrupted by crazy youff.
-For a good team time this week, passionate preperations for thursday nights
-And for a general outpouring of God’s spirit in Abertillery, and being passionate about the river of justice God wants to send into the valleys

Risca:

Pray that we would start to see more kids and youth coming. My God provide opportunities for the club to grow and reach out to more kids.

Pray that we would start to see more kids and youth coming. My God provide opportunities for the club to grow and reach out to more kids.

Pray for the kids that get bullied. They they would find comfort in the love of God and the bullies would change as well.

Thanks that in the youth they are asking loads of questions, pray that the questions would be more sensible and that we would know how to answer them in a way that they can understand.

As we pray at the beginning of this new term, lets remember that age old truth that unless someone is born again by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit, they cannot taste the beauty of the Kingdom of heaven (John 3:5-7). Our hope isn’t in techniques or gifts or well-spoken talks or cultural relevance, but in the transforming Spirit of God. Pray in all these situations that He would be poured out for the glory and fame of Christ in the Valleys.

Bargeod:

-Pray for healing for one of the kids in the kids club who has not healed from a hospital operation as quickly as normal. Pray that he can be back with us soon. Similarly, one of the ‘older’ helpers from the church has also been unwell for a long time. Pray that there is an improvement there.

Grangetown:

- Pray that God would move in power.

At our Revive prayer meeting this week, the first of the new year, we re-focussed our hearts on what Revive seeks to achieve; Revival.

“Revival is that strange and sovereign work of God in which He visits His own people–restoring, reanimating, and releasing them into the fullness of His blessing” (Stephen Olford)

We need revival. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones talked about revival as being the greatest need of the Church. What is revival? Revival is the sovereign work of God to awaken His people (through an outpouring of the Holy Spirit) to a fresh understanding and experience of the reality of His mercy, grace, greatness and holiness displayed in Christ. This leads to power for the proclamation of the gospel, the salvation of many lost sinners and a demonstration of His Kingdom. To put it simply, as Lloyd-Jones did, “A revival is days of heaven upon earth”. This is the urgent need of this generation. Heaven on earth. This is why Jesus taught us to pray “Your Kingdom come” to our Heavenly Father. This is why we, as Revive, exist.

But, the reality is that our lives aren’t always lived in an awareness of how much the Church and the world needs an outpouring of God’s Spirit. We end up going on auto-pilot and getting caught up in the here and now, rather than living for something of eternal significance. How do we fan into flames a passion for revival? I believe Psalm 85 gives us some answers…

1. REMEMBER

1 Lord, you were favorable to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people;
you covered all their sin. Selah
3 You withdrew all your wrath;
you turned from your hot anger.

The psalmist begins by remembering past moves of God in the land. Many accuse us who follow Jesus in Wales of living in the past, always reminiscing about the 1904-05 revival that swept through the nation bringing salvation to over 100,000 people and propelling Welsh missionaries across the globe. Although we shouldn’t live in the past to the extent of it paralysing our present usefulness, it is good and right that we remember God’s past works and even lament over how far we are from the reality of revival now. Believe it or not, many revival’s in scripture and Church history are born out of this remembering. We need to remember what the Lord has done in our land to stir both faith and righteous grief. A great book to fuel this is GRACE, GRIT AND GUMPTION by Geraint Fielder.

2. PRAY

4 Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.

The Psalmist goes from mournful remembering to desperate prayer. He’s longing for God to move in power in his land again. Do we have this urgency in prayer, for the valleys, our lost friends, our nation? We need to cry out day and night for God to revive us, showing His steadfast love and salvation that many may rejoice in Him. We can’t simply stay in the place of remembering God’s past grace; His past grace must compel us to pray for a future outpouring of the Spirit and powerful gospel proclamation.

3. LISTEN

8 Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
but let them not turn back to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land.

From prayer to listening and trust. In the midst of the evil that surrounds the psalmist, he recognises that if the saints would only stop and listen to the word of the Lord, they would find that He was speaking peace to them, assuring them of His power and His ability to save. This births a willing trust and joyful rest both in the sovereignty of God and the power of God. When we go from desperate prayer to hearing God through scripture we will find an assurance of His desire to move in revival power being stirred in us. We will be able to say “SURELY His salvation is near”. That’s more than vain hope. That’s confident trust, rooted in the word of God. And isn’t that last line our desire – glory dwelling in our land. Imagine Wales FILLED WITH THE GLORY OF GOD, churches full and overflowing.

4. BELIEVE

10 Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
13 Righteousness will go before him
and make his footsteps a way.

What starts in remembering will move to prayer. What is carried in prayer will lead to trust. And what trust naturally produces is faith – faith that nothing is impossible for God. The Psalm ends with the psalmist anticipating God pouring out blessing on the land. “YES, the Lord will give what is good”. Such confidence and faith is born out of a life that has remembered who God is and what He has done. We need to be a people in this generation who believe that God can move in power, drawing thousands to Himself as the gospel is proclaimed.

“We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again.” (G Campbell Morgan)

We can’t drum up revival. It’s God’s sovereign work. But we can set our sails. Let’s be a people who set the sails of faith and anticipate His wind.

Ultimately, revival is all about the fame and glory of Jesus. Ultimately we don’t long for changed lives or joyful churches or transformed communities. These are all the bi-product of longing for Jesus and His Kingdom. As Stephen Olford so helpfully put it, “Revival is ultimately Christ Himself, seen, felt, heard, living, active, moving in and through His body on earth”. May He ever be Head of His body, in this nation and to the ends of the earth.
